Every shawl and scarf in the Vivah Atelier is handwoven in Dhaka, one piece at a time, in one of two fibres. Dhaka muslin is a featherlight cotton for the nikkah, the haldi and warm-climate weddings. Cervelt is the fine winter down of New Zealand red deer, for winter ceremonies where you want warmth without hiding the outfit.
Each design is made in a small, numbered edition. When you own a piece, we issue its certificate of authenticity and QR code in your name.

Choose by who wears it
- The bride. A muslin shawl over the head at the nikkah, or a Cervelt shawl over a winter gown or lehenga between ceremony and reception.
- The groom. A Cervelt shawl over the sherwani, or a scarf with a suit or winter coat.
- The mother of the bride. A shawl in a colour that sits beside the bride’s outfit without matching it.
- A wedding gift. Any piece, boxed with its certificate and a handwritten card, in the Gift Edition.

Made by hand in Dhaka
Each piece is woven by hand on a pit loom in Dhaka, Bangladesh, at the pace the yarn allows. When it comes off the loom it is numbered and photographed. Once you own it, we issue a certificate with that same number and a QR code that you, or anyone you give it to, can use to check it to ensure originality.
How to own a piece
Atelier pieces are not sold through shop or cart. Choose a piece and select Request to Own. We reply on WhatsApp, confirm the piece is available, and agree with you the delivery to the US, Canada or the Gulf, the timing for your wedding date, and payment. The entire process will be discussed and nothing will be carged before you agree.
For a colour or size not shown, or to see a piece on video first, book a private consultation.
Questions
Is Dhaka muslin silk?
No. Dhaka muslin is cotton, handspun into very fine yarn and handwoven. Its sheen comes from the fineness of the thread, not from silk.
Is Cervelt a kind of cashmere?
No. Cashmere comes from goats. Cervelt is the fine down of red deer, a separate fibre with its own feel.
How do I know a piece is handwoven?
Every piece is numbered on the loom. When you own it, you receive a certificate and QR code carrying that number.
Can I order a custom colour or size?
Yes. Start with a private consultation and we will tell you what can be woven and how long it takes.
How long does delivery take?
Delivery to the US, Canada and the Gulf is arranged for each piece in your consultation and timed to your wedding date.
